UPLYME YOUTH 3 EXMOUTH AMATEURS U13’S 1
Uplyme finally came out on top in this close encounter thanks to two late goals.
Exmouth opened the scoring with a well placed header from a free kick after 15 minutes.
Uplyme equalised five minutes later with a goal from Kyle Knight and had further chances to score with good efforts from Anthony Simes and Liam Aldworth.
Playing down the slope in the second half Uplyme enjoyed territorial advantage but could not make a breakthrough. As the second half progressed Exmouth looked increasingly dangerous on the break and almost took the lead with a close range chance which flashed over the bar.
There then followed a great tackle from Connor Pemberton and a fine save from Henry Perry to keep the scores level.
With time running out and play swinging from end to end the match was finely balanced and seemed to be heading for a draw until Jack Heath weaved his way through the Exmouth defence and fired a rising shot across goal which although the Exmouth keeper got a hand to he could not keep it out.
Uplyme added a third goal in added time following a good run and shot from Sam Jones which was parried by the keeper allowing Kyle Knight to follow up and score.
The Uplyme man of the match award went to goalie Henry Perry for a sound handling display throughout and fine saves towards the end of the second period.
Uplyme’s next game is away to Honiton Town ko 11 am. |
