We're back!! Laughing

After hanging up my boots (honest) , I have now taken up the reins and am Manager of the mighty Swallows!

I just wanted to mention a few things and I am sure that others can pass on the messages to others for me:
- This season, we are attaining to even higher standards when it comes to the decorum of players on the pitch. We were proud to win the Perry Street Fairplay Award last season, recognising our Reserve side as the team receiving the lowest amount of yellow/red cards, as well as the highest scores from the referees in terms of behaviour and respect. This season, we are trying to maintain this standard, as well encourage a zero-tolerance of bad language and general attitude on and round the pitch! Obviously, we play a contact sport and the opportunity in such a game to become heated is rife (as it is in other sports such as local rugby etc), but nevertheless, we are hoping to encourage more younger families to come and watch us and, therefore, this will be a serious a and necessary commitment for us to make to the families living around the field.
- I am delighted to see so many local youngsters attending our training at the moment. Our average age must be close to 19/20,which is fantastic for the growth of local grassroots football!
- we are starting a "matchday ball" sponsorship idea, whereby members of the local community or small businesses can contribute an amount of money to sponsor the ball for that match. We will be making matchday posters, which will have that sponsor's name/business on it, as a thank you for helping toward to the increasing costs of running a local football team (I have taken a substantial pay cut to 2.2m a year to take this job on) if ANYONE would like to join TERRY'S TAXIS and sponsor a match ball, please see JAN and JOHN FOWLER, who can help!
- if there is anything else we can help with, as a football club, please do contact me on here, or come and say hello on a training night (most tues/Thursday) or on a Saturday game!

Cheers.........Steve ( Gilly)
