|One indication of how early everything is in the natural world is when the honeybees start swarming. There is an old saying in beekeeping ...
A swarm in May is worth a load of hay.
A swarm in June is worth a silver spoon
But a swarm in July is not worth a fly.
Well, we hived our first swarm of the year yesterday evening! April is so early for swarming that there isn't even a line for it in the rhyme ! The best I can manage is 'Sideboard of Maple' (sorry).
Anyway, honeybees are important to us all as pollinators of crops and fruit, so if anyone spots a swarm of honeybees, please leave them alone and call us on 442285 and we will arrange to come and rescue you !
it's never too late
