What went wrong here sounds as if somebody on the council was misinformed or mislead, or didnít check their facts before rejecting a planning application?

An Apology
Planning application 09/0300/COU - Pencroft Farm, Woodhouse Lane, Uplyme, DT7 3SX

In comments submitted by the Parish Council to East Devon District Council, and in a report in May's issue of the Parish News, it was mistakenly stated that, by advertising the application (as required by EDDC) in the Bridport and Lyme Regis News, the applicants were not conforming to the spirit and intent of the instruction, because "This was done in the Bridport & Lyme Regis News which is not available in Uplyme (at least four other newspapers are)".

In fact, both the Bridport News and the Lyme Regis News carry the same advertisements and legal notices, only the editorial being tailored to one edition or the other. The Lyme Regis News is freely available in Uplyme, so the requirement to publicise this application was fully and properly met.

Uplyme Parish Council therefore wishes to issue a full and unreserved apology to the applicants, Mr R Craddock and Miss P Smith.
